Chevy Sales Rep Reveals Secrets to Getting a C8 at MSRP

The new C8 Corvette is an amazing car that has been incredibly hyped. But after 2020, it’s also just a normal production Corvette.

The C8 Corvette is one of the most anticipated new cars to come out in, well decades. That means that dealerships are going to try to make as much profit on C8 sales as they can with prices increases over MSRP. ChevyDude made a very informative video on how to avoid getting take advantage of when buying a new C8.

The Chevy sales associate offers some great insider tips that reveal how to deal with Corvette dealers who are trying to sell the new C8 at prices beyond GM’s price. “Within the first year the hype is going to die on this car,” says ChevyDude. “I was told they plan on beating the 1984 record of 51,000 cars. They’re going to sell over 50,000 C8s. They’re going to be readily available to you. So do not pay over MSRP on this car.” So with that, let’s break down exactly what advice he has for potential C8 Corvette buyers.

There Will Be Plenty of C8s

Make sure the dealer knows you’re aware of how many C8s are being made and that you know demand is going to go down in the second year. “Tell them you’re not going to buy it from them now if you have to pay over MSRP and when demand drops you’re not going to buy it from them then,” says ChevyDude.

It’s Not MSRP, It’s “Total Vehicle Price”

Remind the dealership that that window stickers no longer show MSRP, only Total Vehicle Price, which is what the vehicle should be sold for. “Escalate it with GM if you have to,” he says. “I really think GM should come in and regulate the pricing that we can sell these vehicles for at the high end and the low end.” The window sticker shows total vehicle price and not MSRP and the dealer is obligated to sell the vehicle at that price and not anything more.

Shipping Cars Today is Easy and Cheap

Thanks to affordable car transport, consumers can buy a car anywhere in the country and have it shipped to them. Use buying out of state as leverage over the dealer. “Let them know that shipping costs are extremely low to ship a car across the country and you’re willing to wait,” says ChevyDude. “There’s no value to you in paying over MSRP so therefore you’re willing to pay a shipper to have a car brought from anywhere in the country.” On top of that, you don’t have to go into the dealership at all. You don’t have to talk to their Finance and Insurance Manager, which is a great way to avoid being sold on additional products.

Corvette Forum Can Help You

Use the Internet to your advantage. “There is a list out there on the Corvette Forum showing what dealers are not charging over MSRP,” he says. “Let them know the consumers are fighting back. Consumers are showing and telling you where dealers are selling at MSRP and over.” Remind that you’re willing to have one shipped to you from out of state.

Focus on How You Can Help Their Business

“If you’ve bought multiple cars from them, remind them of that,” he says. “Tell them you will influence people you know to come buy from them.” Also, tell the dealership that you will be honest in your review of your buying experience. “It’s worth more money to them to sell repeat referral business than it is to get any dollar amount over MSRP,” says ChevyDude.

Share Sales Quotes

Share with the dealership that you can get a sales quote from another dealer. Then use that as a negotiating tool to buy from the dealership that you want to work with.

Buy From Chevy Dude

The last tip is simply “Buy from Chevy Dude.” Which actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea. ChevyDude definitely seems like one of the more honest sales associates around.
