Callaway Supernatural 425

Pushing 6.3 liters, this Callaway SuperNatural 425 is all “super,” and “naturally” aspirated to 425 horsepower.

Callaway cars have a bit of mystique within the world of Corvettes. None are etched in our minds quite like the legendary Sledgehammer. With a top speed of over 250 miles per hour, it took the might of Volkswagen and Bugatti to beat it… two decades later. We also know of the “lite” version of the Sledgehammer, RPO code B2K, but there’s another. The SuperNatural 425. This car was built without boost, but instead with displacement in mind.

For the Supernatural 425, Callaway punched the engine out to 383 cubic inches. The “425” designation was an indicator of its horsepower. This was enough to eclipse the B2K, which made just over 400. SuperNaturals were not made with an RPO code, however. This particular SuperNatural is a 1993 model and is a 40th-anniversary package as well. In fact, this one here is Callaway #93-001, the first 1993 model year SuperNatural made by Callaway.

Rather than strip a car out for speed, Callaway made sure customers were not left wanting. As such, 40th Anniversary models were ordered with every available option. This included the factory color-matched hardtop, and adjustable suspension option “FX3.” Added later were Callaway valve covers, a special plaque for the dash indicating it is #001, and a throttle body plate with SuperNatural 425 insignia. All done by Callaway.

Beyond the engine, you could get the famous bodywork “AeroBody” fiberglass work from the Sledgehammer, which this Corvette has equipped. This Corvette also has a central exhaust from Callaway, optional wheel and tire package, and optional coilovers. As most cars are optioned to the customer’s wishes, this SuperNatural 425 is extremely unique.

We found this SuperNatural 425 on an eBay listing, and the price is well… interesting material for debate. Callaway Twin Turbo B2K’s are close enough to the $40,000 mark that other Callaway Corvettes, especially low VIN examples, can fetch that kind of money. Plus there’s always someone who simply has to have it, making the price secondary. The owner of this Callaway was exactly that kind of buyer when he first purchased it back in 2002.
