C7 Corvette Brake Pad D.I.Y. Will Get Your Ride Ready for Track Day

Many Corvette owners may take their car to the mechanic for every repair simply because they don’t believe that they have the technical knowledge, or the tools required, to do the work themselves. In many cases, they might be right, but changing the brake pads on the C7 Corvette Stingray is literally one of the easiest do-it-yourself projects you will encounter.
As this thread in Corvette Forum‘s C7 Corvette Tech/Performance section by Theta shows, changing the front brake pads on the new Stingray doesn’t really even require any tools beyond something to lift the car off of the ground, something to remove the lug nuts and something to remove the pins that hold the pads in place.
Brake Pad How-To
The OP didn’t offer a step-by-step of how to replace the front brake pads of a C7 Corvette Stingray because it is that simple and because instead, he shared the information from the GM dealership service system. Unlike some vehicles where you have to remove a portion of the brake caliper to remove the pads, you don’t even need to do that much with the new Stingray.
Once the wheel is off, there are two pins that push through the top of the calipers and the top of the brake pads that push back in towards the chassis. When those pins are removed, there is a spring clip that comes off of the top of the pads and after that, the pads pull up out of the top of the caliper. Member JerryU provided the image below of the pins that hold the pads in place, along with the items used to knock the pins out of the caliper.
Next, the materials from GM show how to lubricate the new pads and after that, they drop down into the caliper, the spring clip goes back in, the pins simply push back into place and the wheel goes back on.
That is the entire process of changing the front brake pads of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

The video is less than two minutes long, and in that time, you see how to replace the pads in a new Stingray. It is that easy.
