C6 Z06 Shows Just How Easy it Is to Make Big, All-motor Power
Late Model Racecraft breathes life (and horsepower) into this C6Z’s LS7 V8 engine. That’s 603 RWHP worth of power, to be exact.
The C6 Z06 is still one of our all-time favorites. It’s hardcore, lightweight, focused and powerful. That big, 7.0-liter LS7 V8 screams to 7,000 RPM and sounds absolutely thunderous doing it. However, what happens when you want more?
Well, tuners like Late Model Racecraft got you covered, as this Youtube video shows. After all, the LS7 may be very special, but it’s still a small block Chevy, at the end of the day, so it isn’t too hard to get more from it than the standard 505-horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
To be specific, LMR has fitted this C6Z with a heads, cam, exhaust and tune package. In their own words, this is good for a “modest” power bump. LMR further elaborates, saying that these cars are “so fun and so easy to build and get power out of.” That must be the case, because this “modest” Z06 lays down 603 RWHP on their dyno.

After doing the pulls, the video cuts to the C6Z idling outside the dyno room, and it has a healthy amount of cam lope. Combine that big cam with the Velocity Yellow paintwork and it certainly is no sleeper, but it sure does seem to be effective at making big time power. The dyno sheet is shown and the final figures are 603.51 WHP and 522.04 WTQ, with a very healthy torque curve from 3,000 RPM and up.
Long live the LS7, just be sure to swap out those stock heads. It’ll improve the reliability and give you a healthy power bump, at the same time.
