C6 Z06 Comes to Life at Dijon Prenois Race Track in France

You didn’t think they tracked Corvettes in France? Think again.

The C6 Z06 is an iconic American vehicle through and through. Thankfully, people overseas get to experience this legend, as well. We won’t say that the Corvette is a common car in France, but we are happy that enthusiasts worldwide “get it.” We would also say that if you haven’t thrown your Z06 onto a race track yet, you are doing the car a disservice. With its fine-tuned suspension geometry, endless power band from the LS7 V8, light weight and loads of mechanical grip, its true calling is unabashedly smashing lap times.

In a video by Christian Suter on YouTube, we get to see something that puts a smile on our faces: throwing down some laps at a track in France in a LeMans Blue C6 Z06. However, this isn’t just any track in France, it is Circuit de Dijon-Prenois, a track which has hosted the Formula One French Grand Prix five times and has quite a bit of history in racing. We can’t be the only ones curious to see what the Z06 was capable of around the track that we are not as familiar with.

While our French is a bit poor, and there isn’t too much information on the car, at all, in the description of the video, we were able to find some details about the car’s setup in the comments by Suter, himself. The car is a 2006 C6 Z06 with stock motor. For suspension, he is running a set of KW V3 coilovers, a very popular track day coilover for those that want premium levels of grip and adjustment with a medium-level price point. For braking, he is running stock rotors with Pagid RS pads, a premium track day compound.

When asked about whether he was running a modified oil pad or extra oil baffling in his LS7, he replied that his oil pan was also completely stock. Although C6’s have been known to have some issues with oil aeration and starvation in high-G cornering, you can see clearly that Suter isn’t having any issues. To add some grip, you can see a properly-sized GT rear wing helping with downforce and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2’s, a no-frills pure performance track day tire. As you can tell, this Z06 means business.

Throughout the video, we get to see this Corvette have a couple of battles with a 997.2 Porsche GT3 and a Lotus Exige 430 Cup. His passenger struggles to battle with the g-forces as he tries and fails to take some pictures. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the video is the C6 passing just about everybody else. We would like to say that’s the way we like it.
