Bizarre Crash Leaves Corvette Impaled By Road Sign

One man’s 2019 ended in an upsetting and bizarre way when he became involved in a multi-vehicle highway accident.

With the release of the C8, Corvettes have been in the news a lot lately. However, this article from News 7 Miami isn’t about the C8. No, this story is a whole lot weirder.

A bizarre crash on New Year’s Eve in Hallandale Beach, Florida damaged several vehicles, including a white C7 Corvette coupe. The chain-reaction crash resulted in a road sign becoming airborne before landing inside the Corvette.

Thankfully, no major injuries were reported, although one woman was brought to the hospital due to stress and anxiety from the accident. Surprisingly, she wasn’t a passenger in the Corvette.

News 7 Miami interviewed the driver of the doomed Corvette, identified only as Malcolm. Apparently, he was heading to the gym for a quick workout before partaking in some New Year’s Eve festivities later that evening.

Instead, he ended his year on a sour note, with a road sign sticking out of the shattered rear window of his beloved Corvette. We’re glad he’s not hurt, but we still feel pretty bad for him.

We have to admit that the image of the Corvette sitting on the side of the road, looking just fine save for the road sign sticking out of the back, is a bit comical.

What Happened?

Police were able to piece the sequence of events together from witness testimony and evidence left at the scene. Apparently, some other vehicle had hit the road sign, and it entered the roadway. Then, another vehicle struck the sign and it became airborne. That’s when it pierced the rear window of the Corvette.

Malcolm initially thought that he had been rear-ended. He never even saw the sign as it flew through the air like a javelin.

According to the article, it appears that at least four or five vehicles were involved in the crash. One vehicle, an SUV, even had its airbags deploy.

While we can be certain that this Corvette didn’t receive the brunt of the damage, we can be sure that it was victim to the weirdest damage of all. We hope that 2020 is a better year for Malcolm.
