Zagato Unveils Iso Rivolta GTZ! An Italian Grand Tourer with a Corvette Heart

Italian design house Zagato has unveiled its neoclassic grand tourer and this beautiful machine is based on a C7 Corvette Z06!

Italian ateliers seem to have a soft corner for Corvettes and after Ares Design, legendary design house Zagato is the latest Italian marquee to unveil its reinterpretation of a Z06 ‘Vette. The car is called Iso Rivolta GTZ and its design was inspired by classic hybrids of the 1960s like the Iso Rivolta’s A3 models that debut in 1963.

Rivolta GTZ’s elegant design was penned by Bertone’s Giorgetto Giugiaro who has consistently maintained a neoclassical theme throughout the bodywork. Tastefully incorporated slits and vents give GTZ Bertone’s signature dash of flamboyant dynamism. Unlike Ares Design, instead of using one of the highly coveted C8 models, Zagato opted for the classic front-engine rear-wheel-drive layout of a seventh-generation Z06 variant.

One look at the car and it becomes evident that Zagato Iso Rivolta GTZ is a luxurious grand tourer which is why the company’s decision to stick to the stock eight-speed automatic gearbox makes complete sense. Still, the car has plenty of performance to go around courtesy of the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 motor which according to the company, produces 660 horsepower in the GTZ.

The powerplant is supercharged and churns out around 650 lb-ft of maximum torque. The company also claims that GTZ can accelerate to the 62 MPH mark from a standstill in 3.7 seconds and the car’s top speed is clocked at 195 MPH. GTZ sports an all carbon fiber body construction which offers a contemporary styling juxtaposition to the aggressive vibe of the seventh-generation ‘Vette.

Zagato has confirmed that it will only offer 19 models of the Iso Rivolta GTZ as part of an uber-exclusive limited production run and the company has already found buyers for nine of those models. The photographed model features Zagato’s Monza Green paint scheme and it is the first of Iso Rivolta GTZ models to be delivered.

Sharing her thoughts on the project, Marella Rivolta said, “The GTZ was born as a tribute to my grandfather Renzo – who I never knew having missed before I was born and from which, in the family, they say I inherited its temperament, and so I hope his qualities. He was passionate about racing first, in motorboating and then in motorbikes, and a car like the A3 to race at La Mans reflected his passion. So this first project has a lot of heart, hoping to have made him proud of me!”
