Wild Widebody C4 Corvette Hails From Sweden

Love it or hate it, this late ’80s fever dream utterly demands your attention.

It’s wild, it’s controversial, and it’s teal. This custom widebody C4 Corvette is one of a kind, and we’re not sure how you’ll take it. Personally, we really like it.

C4 Corvettes are among the most-produced Corvettes. As a result, they’re also very affordable. While they are incredible, capable cars, it’s not unfair to call the cars “common” or “cheap.” That doesn’t make them any less great, though. We love C4s here at Corvette Forum.

As a result of their market position, custom builders aren’t afraid to use them as the basis for customs. Folks are willing to do things to C4s that they wouldn’t dream of trying to, say, a C1 or a C2.

One place where C4 Corvettes aren’t common or cheap is Sweden. Imagine our surprise to find out that that’s where this incredible custom C4 hailed from. According to The Drive, it was built by Jim Björk, a fan of American cars who makes a living importing them to Sweden.

From Mild to Wild

The teal Corvette’s transformation began last September. First, the car was lowered, and custom-made fender flares were molded. Those flares house some super-wide 18×13″ Advan SA3R wheels. And we thought ZR-1 rear wheels were wide!

Up front, the custom flares meet up with an aftermarket front bumper originally intended for a Nissan 180SX (sold here as the 240SX back in the ’90s). Out back, you’ll find a massive custom wing. Once body modifications were completed, the widebody C4 was sprayed in an eye-catching shade of Porsche aquamarine.

The color looks like it could have come on the car from the Bowling Green factory.  It’s definitely a late 1980s/early 1990s throwback. The car effortlessly combines American, Japanese, and European styles to transform a stock C4 into a wild custom. We haven’t seen anything like these since the incredible Callaway creations seen when these cars were new. If you like the look of Björk’s Corvette, you may be in luck, as he has plans to sell replicas of the body kit starting later this year.

This custom Corvette may not be to everyone’s taste, but it proves that there is still plenty of life left in the C4 platform. Now that folks are paying attention, it’s time to get one while they’re still affordable.
