Corvette Forum tours the C8’s blue-accented interior and, in our opinion, it’s high time for blue interiors to make a comeback.

What do we miss the most about the 1980s? It’s not the big hair, shoulder pads, and puffy sleeves. It’s not synthesizers and drum machines. No, what we miss the most about the decade of excess is blue car interiors. Shortly after we traded in our Aqua Net for flannel, blue interiors faded out of view almost as quickly as A Flock of Seagulls.

That’s a shame because they look terrific when paired with a white exterior. Don’t believe us? Corvette Forum recently spotted this brand new 2020 Corvette at the Oklahoma City Car Show. The white and blue combo looks terrific here, and we challenge anyone to say it looks dated.

Apparently, Chevrolet thinks that it’s high time for a blue interior renaissance. This was the car they chose to display at the show. For many, it was the first C8 Corvette they’d seen in real life.

Any Way You Want It

Instead of the subdued deep blue usually seen in 1980s cars, the 2020 Corvette’s blue interior is much brighter and more dramatic. It’s a lot like some factory Subaru WRX STI interiors we’ve seen — and we all know how much those folks love the color blue. There are actually two different blues used in the interior. Chevrolet calls them “Tension Blue” and “Twilight Blue.”

From the color selection, we can tell that this is a fully-loaded 3LT trim Corvette. However, it doesn’t have the Z51 Performance Package.

One thing we appreciate about the 2020 Corvette’s options list is the wide range of interior options. With everything that’s available, there’s no real reason for any two Corvettes to look alike. Brake calipers, stripes, and even seat belts can be color-keyed to match or complement the color of your car.

Selecting the blue interior automatically swaps the black seat belts for blue ones. There are six different options for seat belt colors, two different kinds of seats, and even an option for two-tone upholstery. There are also an incredible 20 different upholstery options for the 3LT.

We aren’t mathematicians here at Corvette Forum, so we won’t even try to guess how many possible combinations there are. We are, however, intrigued to see how many unique interiors we see as these cars begin making their way into owners’ hands.
