Video: Rendering the C8 Corvette as an SUV

While we might be ethically against this idea, to begin with, why does this Corvette SUV sketch look so good?

Every single luxury automaker is turning their supercars and sports coupes into SUVs. Companies that once vowed they would never make anything other than sports cars have succumbed to the pressures of the outside world to build something more “functional.” However, just because Lamborghini decides to build an SUV that looks like a Huracan, doesn’t mean that Chevy is going to make the Tahoe look like a C8. We all know that the C8 was a big departure from the previous generation when it comes to styling. This came as a fact as a mid-engine car simply does not have the same proportions as a front-engine one. However, just for the thought of it, what if GM did make a Corvette SUV using C8 styling cues?

If you haven’t heard or seen Marouane Bembli‘s work before, you are in for a treat. Bembli best describes himself as a “ex-desinger turned YouTuber” and he focuses on re-designing or re-imagining cars. He does this via Adobe Suite, using mainly Photoshop, the popular image manipulation tool. He starts by taking a stock red C8 Corvette and uses the program to do the first modification, lifting the body around a foot off the ground. After extending the front end and making some minor revisions to the edited areas, we see our first big tweak.

This comes in the form of adding a “hatch” to the back of the C8, effectively extending the roof mass by around 25 percent. Bembli then comes in and fills in the rest of the details to this newly generated area. This modification essentially makes the rear-engine design disappear. Now, the long sleek body remains with a very aggressive front end.

With a new roofline, proportions, and adding a new b-pillar design to fit the now 4-door design, the Corvette SUV is starting to take its shape. After making some definitive final touches to the overall design, the finished transformation is complete. What do you guys think? It almost looks a little bit “shooting-brake” in my opinion and that is something I can work with. GM, are you taking notes?
