C8 Corvette

Sure, the C8 Corvette Stingray starts under $60,000, but it doesn’t take too many options to push prices past $70, $80, or $90 grand.

When Chevrolet announced that its forthcoming mid-engine C8 Corvette would start at a sub-$60,000 MSRP, the world collectively lost its mind. And rightly so. From a styling and performance standpoint, no other $60,000 car looks and drives quite like the C8 generation. But as production delays mounted, and customer C8 Corvettes started hitting dealerships and garages, it was very clear that GM wasn’t producing the base-model (aka 1LT) Corvettes first. Rumors even spread that the base car was actually a loss-leader, costing Chevy as much as $20,000 per unit.

Regardless, most people right now own and order higher-spec C8s, which is why we decided to create a quick list focusing on the top five most expensive options you can pick when ordering a new C8 Corvette.

A couple of quick notes before we dive in… Most of the prices listed in this article are based on the 2020 C8 Corvette Configurator despite the fact that you can no longer order a 2020 model-year C8. This is because GM is already looking toward 2021. As such, while the base 1LT C8 MSRP will remain as-is for 2021, we expect other package and option prices to rise. For example, we already know the Z51 Performance Package costs $995 more in 2021.

Also, while CorvetteForum is home to the largest online collection of C8 Corvette experts and owners, this article is intended more for folks who are new to the C8 and/or are considering buying one in the future.

Z51 Performance Package – $5,995 (Was $5,000 for 2020)

Top 5 Most Expensive C8 Corvette Options: Z51 Package

Better tires. Better brakes. Better cooling. Better differential. And five more ponies along with a louder exhaust. The Z51 Package is arguably the most must-have package on this list. Although we think it should include Magnetic Ride Control with it. It’s also a requirement if you want to take your C8 to the track and not void your warranty. And while it’s a bummer that GM is raising the price for 2021, you couldn’t assemble all of these goodies in the aftermarket for this price.

Z51 Performance Package Details:

  • Required for track use
  • Z51 performance Brembo brakes
  • Z51 performance suspension
  • Performance exhaust
  • Performance rear axle ratio
  • Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD)
  • Z51-specific front splitter and rear spoiler
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear, high performance, run-flat, summer-only tires
  • Heavy-duty cooling system
