Pair of C2 Corvettes Land in Top 10 at Barrett-Jackson’s Online Auction

Selling for nearly $300k combined, these C2 Corvettes prove that virtual auctions are a viable alternative.

There’s no way to truly capture the magic of a large automotive auction in a virtual setting. The speedy banter of the auctioneer, the excitement of the crowd, the frenzy that happens when multiple people are bidding on the same car. But if Barrett-Jackson’s online-only July auction is any indication, taking all of that away doesn’t seem to hurt hammer prices. And these two C2 Corvettes are concrete proof of that.

The two C2 Corvettes, a 1966 restomod and restored 1967 big-block convertible, went on to occupy two of the top ten spots at the auction, selling for nearly $300k combined. And perhaps more importantly, they also helped prove that you don’t have to have a physical sale to rake in big bucks from collectors.

1966 Corvette Restomod

This gorgeous ’66 raked in the second-highest sum of B-J’s sale with a hammer price of $198,000. That’s an amazing amount of money to spend on any car, but this isn’t just any old car. Built by Jeff Hayes Customs, the C2 is essentially a completely modernized classic, but it’s also absolutely flawless in every aspect.

The classy Corvette is powered by a new LS3 V8 engine, with a 4L70E 4-speed automatic transmission behind it. A Coffman chassis wears a C5 front suspension and C6 rear setup. Z06 brakes take up residence at all four corners, with staggered 18-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Toyo rubber. It’s also a looker, with a custom mix silver/grey metallic paint and a gorgeous red leather interior.
