Amid the thousands of Corvette models to leave the factory over the course of seven decades, these five one-offs stole our hearts.

It’s wild to think in 2023, the Corvette will be 70 years old. Judging by its evolution over those decades, it gives us hope we can look as good in our 70s. Part of the story is the drive towards mid-enginehood, of course. However, the Corvette also represents America in every phase of the nation’s life over the same period.

Thus, it stands to reason a few unique, one-of-one rides were built from the factory, reflecting American individualism like no other. These five Corvette one-offs are our favorites from the many to come down the line.

1989 Falconer Corvette ZR-12

Falconer Corvette ZR-12

Once upon a time, Dodge shook off Grandpa with the introduction of the Viper RT/10. The big V10 roadster took the world by storm, prompting the Corvette team to come up with the antidote to the Viper’s venom.

The result? The ZR-12. The elongated C4-era ‘Vette received a custom V12 from Falconer, an engine normally used in boats and planes. The 600 cubic-inch beast delivered 686 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque to the rears, earning the car the nickname of “Conan the Corvette.” Alas, just this one was built.
