New C7 Callaway Champion Celebrates Storied Team’s 25th Anniversary

C7 Z06-based Callaway Champion celebrates GT team’s long-running and highly successful motorsport efforts.

When most people think of Callaway, they think of high performance Corvettes destined for the street, and maybe also the track on occasion. But those into motorsports are also aware of Callaway Competition, the Leingarten, Germany-based team that has been competing in GT racing for 25 years now, racking up a number of notable wins in the process. Now, the company is paying homage to that effort with the new, C7 Z06-based Callaway Champion Corvette.

Callaway is building a grand total of 25 examples of the Champion, which is packing an extensive list of modifications to help make it something truly special. That starts with the Callaway SC757 Power Package, which includes the tuner’s third-gen supercharger, intercooler system, a high-flow intake, and all of the subsequent badging to let everyone know exactly what you’re driving.

Additional goodies on the Callaway Champion include a “Double D” Exhaust System and Level 2 HD Cooling System. Together, all of these mechanical upgrades help the modified C7 produce an impressive 757 horsepower and 777 pound-feet of torque. Performance is equally eye-opening, the 0-60 sprint taking just 2.8 seconds, and the quarter-mile coming in just 10.5 clicks.

On the outside, the Champion wears a host of unique styling touches that help it stand out from the crowd as well. Two of the most notable lie out back and consist of a Callaway GT3 rear wing and Europe rear spoiler. Meanwhile, the Corvette rolls on a set of NineSpoke wheels for a unique appearance.

It would be an oversight to add this much power and not upgrade the suspension, so Callaway also installed its own, comprehensive package. The mods cap off with the addition of an S3 shifter and harness bar, because this is a race car tribute build, of course.

Callaway is producing this special C7 Z06 at its Connecticut and California factories. Orders can be placed at Callaway Authorized Dealers in the U.S. and Canada, at Autohaus Kramm in Berlin, and at BH Auction in Tokyo.

We don’t doubt that the legendary tuner will have any trouble selling all 25 examples of this special car. The appeal of such a limited edition machine is great, of course. But throw in the Champion’s deep ties to a pretty successful motorsports team and you’ve got a truly special combination.
