Mysterious C8 Corvettes Spotted On Freeway

Video shows a set of wrapped up C8 Corvettes on a transport trailer driving down the freeway. Could these be Z06 test mules?

The C8 Z06 Corvette is likely the next step in the new mid-engine platform. While we all are impatiently waiting for more info, we have to wonder if these Corvettes are Z06 test mules.

The Youtube channel Corvette: Sales, News & Lifestyle recently uploaded this phone video of two C8s on a transport trailer. The title declares that they are Z06 test mules, but there is plenty of speculation that this is not the case. Unfortunately, we tend to agree with them.

With all the delays in the production of the C8 Corvette, Chevy has only just begun assembling them. The GM strike was a significant factor in these production delays. In early February 2020, Chevy officially started the production of customer cars. In fact, February 3rd marks the first production C8 coming off the assembly line. Some speculate that these are likely customer cars on their way to a dealership. There just isn’t anything distinct about them that leads us to believe they are Z06 mule cars.

For one, each car has a different set of wheels on it. Furthermore, one has a rear wing, and one does not. These arguments seem to support the idea that they are customer cars, as various wheels and the rear wing are available options.  Even more convincing is that the “camouflage” on these cars isn’t much camouflage at all. While most mule cars have a sophisticated design of black and white all around, these are just wrapped in pure white, which is how new cars are usually shipped to a dealership.

Another theory from the comments section is that these are pre-production cars. This seems to be a somewhat likely scenario. Unfortunately, most pre-production cars are destroyed. Hopefully, then, these C8s aren’t on their way to the grave.

Overall, there is nothing that indeed points to these being Z06 mules. The idea of camouflage is indeed to hide details of test cars. However, we would still think there would be a noticeable difference in the shape of the rear end. At least, to some extent. Of course, all of this is just speculation. These could be just about anything. Unfortunately, we likely will never know for sure.
