Two YouTubers are among the first C8 owners. One travels 3,000 miles in his new ride and we get to watch the first production-C8 oil change.

After months of delays, C8 owners are finally starting to receive their cars. Many of them have taken to YouTube to share this momentous occasion with Corvette fans around the world.

Remember a few years back when unboxing videos were popular? It’s a weird footnote in the history of the internet. People would film themselves freeing new pieces of tech from their plastic, styrofoam, and cardboard prisons, and uploaded those videos en masse to YouTube.

Earliest C8 Owners Share Their Delivery Experiences

Well, these videos of new C8 owners getting their cars delivered remind us a lot of that. Of course, this time, it’s a whole lot cooler!

TJ Hunt traveled all the way from San Diego, California to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to take delivery of his Ceramic Matrix Gray C8. Since he planned on driving it home cross-country — a distance of roughly 2,500 miles — he also became the first person we know of to change their oil.

Another YouTuber, Chevy Dude, chronicled Hunt’s first oil change at 500 miles. Even though it’s a brand new car, Hunt’s cross-country trip hasn’t exactly been trouble-free. Hunt shared a video in which his check engine light came on after doing donuts in an abandoned Texas parking lot.

The action’s not exclusive to YouTube, however. Over on Facebook, the National Corvette Museum live-streamed the first museum delivery (RPO R8C). We’ve always dreamed of ordering a brand new Corvette and picking it up at the museum, surrounded by Corvette history.

Ceramic Matrix Gray seems to be a popular color. An Instagram video showed one being unloaded from the transporter, ready for its happy new owner at City Chevrolet in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Street Speed 717 on YouTube also picked his up. His might have been the first one we saw delivered on YouTube. After seeing them on a few cars, we’re starting to like the yellow brake calipers.

Of course, there’s a long waiting list for these cars. It seems that all of these early deliveries are happening in the northeast part of the country. For those still waiting, there are plenty of other ways to pass the time. Complete Street Performance showed us how he prepared his garage for his C8, whenever it arrives.

We appreciate all of these owners letting us live vicariously through them. It may be a while before we can get a C8 of our own, so for now, this is as good as it gets!
