Neither pandemic nor rain could prevent Corvettes from all eras to flex their LS and LT V8s at the 11th annual Holley LS Fest East!

A few months ago, Corvette owners would’ve driven to Las Vegas to rumble, drift, roar and shine at Holley LS Fest West. Unfortunately, attempts to bring the 2020 edition to life could not get off the ground. Thus, the desert party was postponed until 2021 at the earliest. The sooner 2020 ends, the better.

Luckily, the long-running Holley LS Fest East celebrated its 11th edition this past weekend at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Thus, all the Corvettes rolled in for a homecoming no pandemic was gonna slow down. At last, a reprieve for all LS and LT fans!

Until the rains arrived, that is.

The LS Fest Debut of the LT2

Over a year ago, examples of the C8 Corvette posed in Bowling Green during the National Corvette Museum’s silver anniversary. Today, though, they’re out and about from the showroom all over LS Fest. We even found this twin-turbo orange example from Complete Street Performance making a couple passes down the quarter-mile.

Other C8 owners found a spot at the show ‘n’ shine, like this one next to one of its ancestors near the Holley tent. There were even a couple out on the oval track behind the timing tower swinging through the cones at the autocross.

How Do You Like Your Tires Smoked?

Near the manufacturers midway, Corvettes lined up with each other and various LS-powered rides to thunder down the quarter-mile. Some were going for a personal best, others were gunning for the cash with the best E.T. at the line. From grudge test-n-tunes to stick-shift battles, there was something for anyone with the right ride.

On the other side of the timing tower, the socially distanced audience could see more than a few drivers fly through the autocross in their ‘Vettes. Other events on the oval track include the 3S Challenge, and the Lucas Oil Drift Challenge. Whatever was happening, a Corvette was likely to be there.

Who Will Stop the Rain?

Alas, drag racing would come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon. Rain storm after rain storm rolled through Beech Bend, leaving everything soaking wet. Even the drift challenge had to stop for a moment when the rains grew heavy. However, spirits could not be dampened during the weekend.

After an eternity without Corvettes and LS power, the Holley LS Fest was the epic reprieve so many needed from the dumpster fire of 2020. May 2021 be even better.
