GM Official: First C8 Corvette Deliveries to Begin ‘Before the End of February’

Customers will be able to take delivery of 2020 Corvettes a few weeks after C8 production begins next month.

GM snuck some exciting news in a recent press release. While the release focused mainly on the $3,000,000 dollars raised for Detroit Children’s Fund when C8 Corvette VIN #001 crossed the auction block, it ended with the following: “Corvette coupe production will begin at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky in early February, with customer deliveries slated to begin before the end of February.”

This is thrilling news, especially for anyone who has been frustrated by the delays and/or have an early production C8 ordered.

C8 production

We don’t know who will get their cars first, but our guess is that National Corvette Museum deliveries are likely to be first in line. Or any dealerships close to Bowling Green. However, folks will have to be careful with their new C8s. Weather in Bowling Green, Kentucky, isn’t exactly track-friendly in late February. Orders requiring cross-country transport will understandably take a little bit longer. Deliveries in California are sure to be at the first available cars and coffee meets. Actually, we’ll predict a flood of them.

We can also look to future models soon to be added with this news about future production.  The convertible C8 debuted shortly after the coupe, so we can’t imagine a scenario where its production would lag significantly. Perhaps that’s in order to place the car perfectly in time for top-down weather. Also, the upcoming Z06 prototype has been spied in final testing recently. With serious cold-testing underway, along with short clips of a new sounding engine, we anticipate the C8 Z06 won’t be rolling out of Bowling Green any time soon. Though it could likely happen during the warmer months of the year.
