Messy Ohio Garage Hid Forgotten '65 Corvette

Our garage may be a little messy, but unfortunately, we’re certain we won’t find a low-mileage C2 Corvette when we clean it.

Barn finds are indeed still out there, but sometimes you have to be willing to dig through a little bit of junk to find them. Don’t believe us? Just ask Speedy’s Towing and Recovery out of St. Louisville, Ohio.

They shared this awesome story on their Facebook page, which has so far received hundreds of shares and reactions. It’s certainly a lot of attention for a small town towing company’s Facebook page. Then again, this isn’t exactly your average tow, either.

Since the late 1960s, a secret has been hidden from view in a decrepit-looking garage in rural Ohio. Surrounded by mountains of trash, an incredible find was just sitting there, waiting to be discovered for over half a century.

As the post explains, what the towing company found when they cleared away the garbage shocked them. There, in the midst of years’ worth of trash, sat a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible.

The post goes on to state that the car rolled out of the garage no problem, once a space was cleared in the horde of old junk. The brakes weren’t even frozen!

The classic Corvette has just 40,000 miles on the odometer, and was apparently parked in the late 1960s. Slowly surrounded by trash, it didn’t see sunlight again until the end of February this year.

This incredible find has the L84 Ram-Jet fuel-injected 327 cubic inch V8. It was the hottest small-block you could order in a Corvette in 1965. With an 11.0:1 compression ratio, hydraulic valve lifters, and a high-lift camshaft, this mighty mouse was capable of an impressive 375 horsepower and 350 lb/ft of torque.

Best of all, that powerful V8 is backed up by a four-speed manual transmission. Other highlights, from what we can see, are the Nassau Blue paint, matching blue interior, and factory hard top. Despite the dust covering the car, it looks really good in the photos — especially the interior. Perhaps the junk pile around the car served as a protective cocoon for this Corvette time capsule.

Soon, this newly-discovered Corvette will be offered for sale at a local classic car dealership. If you were to buy it, would you restore it, or get it running and leave it as a survivor?
