‘Corvette Forum’ Poll Asks, Do You Prefer C7 Over C8?

Despite overwhelmingly positive reviews, quite a few people still prefer the last-gen C7 over the exciting new C8.

The brand new C8 Corvette debuted to glowing reviews, and we’ve yet to hear anything negative about the car, really. There are some reservations about certain styling elements, of course, and the lack of a manual transmission. But otherwise, it’s been all sunshine and rainbows. So we were a bit surprised to learn that quite a few Corvette Forum members actually like the C7 better, a fact that surfaced recently when the two were spotted together. And now, in this thread, a running poll has the C7 and C8 neck-and-neck in terms of popularity.

As of this writing, 52% prefer the C7, while the other 48% voted for the C8, with hundreds of votes already tallied. Of course, none of us have actually driven the C8 yet, so this is purely a styling exercise. But it’s undoubtedly interesting nonetheless. Still, some folks are reserving their final judgement until they get some wheel time in the C8.

“I am anxiously awaiting my order, so I am holding off replying as I want to drive it first before voting,” said Strake. “Obviously, I wouldn’t have early traded our loved ’17 GS, which was my all-time favorite of my 11 previously-owned Vettes, for our pending C8 if I wasn’t excited about the new platform. So I’m hoping to reply prefer C8 a lot”

“C7 over the C8 in appearance only, because how many of you actually driven the C8?” added snork. “My preference is on hold till the C8 makes its debut.”

A lot of folks, including Savoy2001, are having a hard time choosing regardless.

“I get that it’s a preference, but wouldn’t it be cool to see how many people actually DO like both cars? I’m sure there’s enough people on this forum that feel that way for it to be a worthy metric. Don’t you?”

“Moderators can add another selection to the poll. How about ‘I like both equally?’” added Zymurgy.

Still, this is a fascinating poll with some rather shocking revelations. Perhaps opinions will change once the new ‘Vette hits the streets, but who knows? If nothing else, it’s pretty clear that the C7 still gets a lot of love here at Corvette Forum. So we want to hear from you.
