Chevrolet Just Built the 1.75 Millionth Corvette (and You Can Own it for Only $200)
Finished in Arctic White over Adrenaline Red, this special C8 coupe recently completed assembly and will be part of a National Corvette Museum fundraising raffle.
The history of the Chevrolet Corvette is fascinating. It is the quintessential American sports car and it has been around for nearly 70 years. This year, the car has achieved a special milestone. The 1.75 millionth Corvette has been produced. Considering Chevy cranks out over half-a-million Silverados every year, that may not sound like a lot of Corvettes. However, for a somewhat expensive, 2-seat, sports car, 1.75 million is a hell of an accomplishment. Most manufacturers would be thrilled if they sold even a fraction as many sports cars.
To celebrate the occasion Chevy is building a special C8. The first Corvette was painted Polo White with a red interior. This milestone Corvette is going to mimic the color scheme with an Arctic White paint job and an Adrenaline Red interior. That first Corvette was a convertible, but the C8 is a coupe. Do not be too disappointed though. You cannot buy that first Corvette, but the C8 you can buy, and for only $200! Some luck is involved though. The National Corvette Museum is holding a fundraising raffle and the prize is the special 1.75 millionth Corvette.
The prize car will be equipped with the top-spec 3LT trim level as well as the all-important Z51 performance package. The car will also have the useful front lift with memory option. On top of that, there will be some visual goodies included such as the 5-trident spoke machined-face sterling silver aluminum wheels, carbon flash exterior badge package, and engine appearance package. This car would retail for over $80,000, so if you are the lucky winner, you get the car at a 99.75 percent discount. We doubt you could negotiate such a deal at your local Chevy dealer. Tickets are limited though, so act fast if you want to take a shot. You and three guests will get to pick-up your new Corvette directly from the museum.
Speaking of the museum, the previous milestone Corvettes, the 1 millionth and 1.5 millionth cars, are on permanent display there. Hopefully, the new owner of number 1.75 million will have better luck with their C8 edition. The 1992 and 2009 milestone Corvettes were both swallowed by the sinkhole that struck the museum back in 2014. The 1992 car has been fully restored, while the 2009 car remains in its as-recovered condition. We sincerely hope the new car offers nothing but many years of motoring bliss to the new owner.
Since this car will not be in the museum, what do you think the new owner will do with it? Given the special nature of the car, it is possible that it will be more valuable than the MSRP, so does that impact how the car may be used? Will the new owner, try to re-sell it for a quick profit? Maybe it will be locked away in a private garage and never seen again. Or perhaps it will be driven only on sunny days, when the temperature is between 78 and 80 degrees, and relative humidity is 40 percent, with winds blowing less than 5 mph? We do not know. What we would like to know is what would you do if you won this car? Give us your thoughts over in the Corvette Forum forums.
