C8 Corvette: Is 1LT Enough or Will You Regret Your Purchase?

Base C8 Corvette 1LT is certainly missing some desirable options, but it also saves you several thousand dollars.

Base models exist for a reason. Automakers must offer something at a lesser price, with lesser options, mostly for optics. This was especially true when the C8 Corvette debuted. The car’s sub-$60,000 price tag was big news, and undoubtedly helped drive the immense hype over the car that followed. But of course, GM would prefer that most people opt for something other than the C8 Corvette 1LT, and most buyers will. And that begs the question – does anyone who’s purchased a C8 Corvette 1LT regret that decision? Thankfully, we don’t have to look far to find the answer, because it’s right here in this Corvette Forum thread started by member ChromeBumperGuy.

“I’m curious to hear from C8 Corvette 1LT owners. Do you feel like you are missing anything with the package? Any creature features you miss? Is PDR still available on the 1LT? I  do like the camera options on the 2LT as well as the seat adjustability, but I’m not a fan of the red dash and door. I have to redo my 2020 order for 2021, so I’m sorting through how I want to configure it.”

Surprisingly, it appears that most members who have purchased a C8 Corvette 1LT don’t have any regrets, even with the absence of options like blind spot monitoring.

“I am fine with the 1LT,” said Supersonic 427. “There are a few items on the 2LT that I would have liked to have, but I did not want to pay $7,300 +8% NYS tax for the whole package for many items I could care less about!”

“I ordered a 1LT,” added MaxV. “I could not justify the $7-$8K for a bunch of electronic stuff. The value wasn’t there for me. I planned on adding an aftermarket rear view mirror camera, but after sitting in one I think I can make due with the standard mirror. The rest of the 2LT package was all fluff in my opinion.”

Some, like Shony, originally ordered a 1LT only to later change their minds.

“I ordered a 1LT in Shadow Gray Metallic with an Adrenaline Red interior. However, since money is not an issue, I have made an effort to upgrade to the 2LT with GT2 seats. My logic in part was that demand would be greater at resale.”

So far, it sure doesn’t look like anyone who’s purchased a C8 Corvette 1LT has any regrets, however. And many who did are simply going to look to the aftermarket for adding on options they didn’t get rather than springing for the 2LT package.
