With six speeds and an Autobahn to conquer, Instagrammer makes the most of his all-American C5 Corvette in Munich.

The United States exports plenty of goods, some of which are beloved. Goods like Coca-Cola, Disney, McDonald’s, and so on. The best export, though, is Corvettes. Whether it’s a Z06, a ZR1, or a base model, the ‘Vette’s found many fans all over the world, especially with other, more local high-performance options available.

One such fan is German Instagrammer corvette.c5.z0696, or Kilian, for short. What’s interesting here is that Chevrolet didn’t make a 1996 C5 Z06. Setting aside the year (perhaps the Instagrammer’s birth year?), this C5 also lacks the Z06’s “notchback” style rear window. This particular fifth-generation Corvette is clearly a coupe (the wheels are 2000+) so perhaps it’s been modified with a few Z06 accessories or drivetrain components? Or maybe he got scammed?

We can’t say. Although it is odd for an auto engineer to not know exactly what car he owns.

Either way, it’s a gorgeous car with a fun Instagram account to check out.

“She’s a thirsty girl,” Kilian wrote of his C5 in July of 2017. We can only imagine how much he pays for fuel in his native Germany, especially since it’s priced by the liter, not the gallon like in the United States. Yet, his Corvette’s brought nothing but joy since at least late May of 2016, when he started the account for the black stallion.

Kilian and his C5 aren’t alone in the land of Oktoberfest, either. Turns out there’s a whole group of like-minded Corvette fans all over Germany, including the owner of an equally black C6 ZR1 with C7-esque headlights.

German Luftwaffe Transall and C5 Z06

In another instance, back in April 2019, his C5  partook in a photoshoot with a handful of Corvettes in an airfield. A CAT airship and German Luftwaffe Transall served as backdrops for his and the other Corvettes. Though impressive, the aircraft couldn’t top the all-American majesty on display for the photo-op.

Also: you’ll find the word “W-E-R-B-U-N-G” thrown around a lot on Kilian’s Instagram. “Werbung” has a handful of meanings in German, including “winning.” With a C5  like his, who are we to disagree?

Kilian may not say a lot on his Instagram. Yet, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. His C5 is worth all the words in the world, to be sure. Of course, we can think of one word this black ‘Vette is worth most of all: werbung.

CORRECTIONS: this article originally stated that this C5 was 1) produced in 1996 and 2) a Z06 model, but as reader Rian Johnson, neither could be true because the C5 wasn’t released until 1997 and this Corvette doesn’t have the Z06 “notchback” style rear window. Apologies for the error.
