C3 Corvette Monster Truck Is Bizarre in More Ways Than One
We’re not sure why anyone would build a C3 Corvette monster truck, but we’d be happy to try this one out.
We aren’t entirely sure what inspired the first person to ever convert a sports car into a monster truck, but here we are. Years later, many folks have jacked up things like Corvettes for the purpose of slinging mud and causing general mayhem. But this particular C3 Corvette monster truck up for sale on Facebook Marketplace isn’t some average, run-of-the-mill backwoods project by any means.
Nothing about this Corvette monster truck makes much sense, but we suppose that’s exactly the point. The seller simply wanted something that would stand out at the local mud pits, and it’s safe to say they accomplished that goal. This monstrous creation rides many feet off the ground, with ginormous tires allowing it to roll through (or over) just about anything.
As if it wasn’t absurd enough on its own, the Corvette monster truck is also packing a Ford 400 cubic-inch V8 and C6 automatic transmission. Because, well, who knows why. The ad doesn’t say what sort of frame this thing is rolling on, so perhaps the owner simply swapped an entire Ford truck rolling chassis under there, drivetrain and all.
Power flows through a 12-inch drop Tombstone transfer case to all four wheels, and the rear suspension is a four-link setup, while the axles are beefy 2.5-ton units. The wheels and tires are connected via some of the largest coilovers you’ll ever see, too. But apparently, this mud-slinging Corvette isn’t quite 100% just yet. The seller does note that it could use some additional frame boxing and waterproofing if you don’t like getting soaked while driving.
The asking price for this mad creation was a mere $8,500, giving it a pretty high fun-per-dollar ratio. And unsurprisingly, it seems to have sold rather quickly, as the ad has already disappeared. Proving once again that even the most non-sensical, crazy ridiculous ideas are appealing to at least a few folks. And personally, though we don’t encourage folks to turn classic Corvettes into monster trucks, we’d give this thing a rip or two at our local mud pits without a bit of hesitation.
