Corvette is an incredible all-around performance car, but some they can also dominate the drag strip.

Since it was introduced in the 1950s, the Chevrolet Corvette has been the all-American sports car. The Corvette has been featured at some point in just about every form of motorsport, but in offering world-class handling capabilities, Chevy’s legendary sports car stands out from the American muscle cars. Where the muscle cars traditionally shine brightest on the drag strip, the Corvette is the most successful American road racer in history.

However, that hasn’t stopped many Corvette owners from transforming their Chevy sports car into a drag racing monster. Since the first Corvette hit the street, some owners have been modifying them for drag racing purposes with great success. More recently, Corvettes built for drag racing have proven to be some of the quickest production-based car races in the world – often while still maintaining the ability to be driven on the street.

Today, we bring you five of the wickedest Corvette drag racing machines in the world, four of which are well into the 7-second range and the Carlyle Racing C6 that runs in the mid-6-second range.

C7 Corvette Z06 Convertible Runs a 7.71

We start with a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible that was built by the team at Advanced Modern Performance. The C7 Z06 was quick in stock form thanks to the 650-horsepower LT4, but this car features a fully-built engine and an aftermarket transmission. From the outside, it looks like your average C7 convertible with aftermarket wheels and big, fat tires out back, but this car is anything but average.

7-Second C7 Convertible

Under the hood is an LT4 featuring a Late Model Engines billet rotating assembly, CID cylinder heads and the AMP 5X package, which includes a ProCharger F1X supercharger. The engine is mated to an RPM Transmissions PowerGlide transmission with a ProTorque torque convertor and a 9-inch rear differential conversion. We don’t know how much power this Z06 is making, but we know that it retains all factory interior accessories. No weight has been removed.

7-Second C7 Convertible

On the first run in the video below from the Advanced Modern Performance YouTube channel, this white Z06 runs an 8.097 at 171 miles per hour. On the second run, it gets down into the 7s with a 7.902 at 169 miles per hour and on the final run, this C7 Corvette stops the timers with a 7.71 at 173 miles per hour.
