We’ve highlighted our top five interesting features to check out in the new C8 Corvette Owner’s Manual.

The first C8-era Corvettes should arrive any day now and the excitement is palpable. Future owners can’t wait to bring their new cars home and get to know all of the 2020 Corvette’s quirks and features, to quote Doug DeMuro. Luckily, even if you have to wait a while to get behind the wheel of your new mid-engine ‘Vette, you can download and enjoy the digital owner’s manual today. While the whole thing is a must-read for all future owners, we spent a few moments to highlight our top-five interesting features.

1. A Manual Key to Free Little Bobby

In the age where keys transmit signals to unlock everything, it’s always nice to know you can still unlock your Corvette the old-fashioned way. The mechanical key contained in the electronic fob means little Bobby can be freed with just a twist, instead of busting out the windows. The key can also help you replace the fob’s battery when the time comes.

2. Seat Belts Save Lives. Except When They Don’t

In the “Seats and Restraints” section, there’s a reminder that while seat belts will save your life, you could also be trapped by them. In answering the question regarding entrapment within the Corvette in crash while wearing a belt, the answer is simple: “You could be.” That said, if you are belted, you’ll likely remain conscious enough in a wreck to unbelt and escape.

3. Plug It In, Plug It In

Inside the new Corvette’s glove box is an interior power outlet. This outlet can be used to recharge your cell phone, or power some other gadget. The one in the frunk, meanwhile, is “powered at all times,” and meant for battery maintainers. We’re sure it could be used for other things, too, though.

4. Only Z51s Need Apply at the Track

When owners pick up their new Corvettes, they’ll have to break in their cars for 1,500 miles before taking it on the track. Only if they have the Z51 package, though. Per the manual, ‘Vettes not equipped with the high-performance package “should not be used for track events and competitive driving.” We think that won’t stop a few non-Z51s from flexing on the autocross, though.

5. Avoid Curb Rashes with Cameras

When it comes to parking near a curb, you want every advantage possible. The new Corvette can be had with curb-view cameras mounted up front. These cameras show you what’s next to you when parallel parking, saving your ride from possible rashes.

These and rest of the items in this manual will make owning this Corvette easy to live with in the long haul. We’re happy to see this excellent piece of literature hit the printing press. Download the full 2020 C8 Owner’s Manual here.
