Summer may be behind us but it was one heck of a ride. These are our award winning Corvette moments from an unforgettable summer.

Summer is Corvette season. Heck, they even named a movie after it. Some folks are fortunate enough to live in a climate that allows year-round sportscar motoring. Other folks slap some snow tires on and plow through anything Mother Nature throws at them. However, for many, summer is the peak driving season. It can mean track days or shows or simply a long road trip. It seems to us the perfect season to hand out some Corvette awards based on what transpired.

This summer of 2020 was certainly a bit different from previous years, but that does not mean it was boring. There was still a lot going on in the Corvette world, and as we move into fall, this is the perfect time to look back at some of the more interesting moments. We are giving out some unique awards to recognize some of the special happenings that took place over the previous three months. Sit back, relax and relive the summer with us.

The ‘Say It Ain’t So’ Award: The Corvette Goes Electric

C7 No Ecar plate

Late this summer news broke that GM was moving the Corvette engineering team to their Autonomous and Electric Vehicles Program. Gasp! What the hell? They already took shifting our own gears away from us in the C8, are they going to take our lovely V8 away next? Sure, electric vehicles are fast, but there is more to the Corvette experience than just speed. Popping the hood, or the hatch in the case of the C8, and gazing at the V8 is part of the fun. Hearing it fire up and listening to it rumble and roar down the road is what makes a Corvette a Corvette. The move to a hybrid or all-electric Corvette is probably just a matter of time, but hopefully we still have many years of internal combustion to enjoy.
