This poor wrecked C8 Corvette looks like a total loss, but the new owner seems to disagree with that assessment.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, we’ve seen quite a few wrecked C8 Corvette examples in recent months. Many of them involved in accidents that weren’t the Corvette driver’s fault, unfortunately. But in the case of this poor Elkhart Blue Metallic 2020 model, that doesn’t appear to be the case. These pictures were posted to the Facebook group Wrecked Muscle Cars and Classics by William Wyatt, who noted that the wrecked C8 Corvette now belongs to someone he knows.

Apparently, the car was traveling along at 115 miles-per-hour when it crashed with just 532 miles on the clock – just over the initial break-in mileage of 500 miles, perhaps unironically. Perhaps the owner was testing out that newly unlocked power when they crashed, which is a real possibility. Regardless, the outcome of those antics is pretty gruesome to look at.

What is cool about these pics that Wyatt uploaded is the fact that the wrecked C8 Corvette is being hauled around a scrap yard in Louisiana by a vintage Chevy C50 flatbed hauler. The pickup wears plenty of patina and looks absolutely awesome, also providing a sharp contrast to the brand new Corvette sitting crumpled up on its bed.

This story does have a happy ending, however, unlike most C8 crashes we’ve seen so far. Wyatt’s friend acquired the car from a Copart auction, and he said that it “was rough to start, but it’s up and going now.” So at least we know the LT2 is still fine, but we aren’t so sure about the rest of the car. This C8 certainly looks like a lost cause, but who knows? We’ve seen cars in worse condition brought back to life.

In a worst-case scenario, perhaps Wyatt’s friend can salvage the drivetrain and use it in a cool vintage project. After all, it is pretty much brand new, and quite literally just broken-in. And if he was able to do that, he’d certainly have one of the very first such creations, which would make the effort worth it in the long run. Either way, this poor C8 deserves a better fate than the one that it’s currently facing.
