Uncovered C8 Z06 Caught Doing Commercial Shoot by Corvette Forum Member
Mere days after we got our first official look at the C8 Z06, along comes photos of a red model being filmed.
It was only a few days ago when GM whet our appetites with the very first official, uncovered photo of the forthcoming 2023 C8 Z06 Corvette. This came after months of speculation, spy photos, videos, and rumors, but it also leaves us wanting much, much more. Luckily, an intrepid Corvette Forum member who goes by SK30 just so happens to have a buddy that captured a red C8 Z06 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, apparently starring in a commercial shoot, so he posted a picture of it in this thread.
From what we can see in the photo, this Red Mist Z06 is spec’d a lot like the previously seen Racing Silver example. As in, it’s a base model, with a small rear spoiler, split-spoke wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires. It’s quite the departure from the many prototypes we’ve seen driving around and testing in recent months, which wear giant, uniquely shaped rear wings, larger front splitters, carbon-fiber wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires.
SK30 also provided a couple of other photos, including one of the Corvette sitting in the back of a trailer. We can also see a fully-decked-out Porsche camera car, and drones, all of which should make for a professional production. But one of the biggest confirmations we can see here is that there are indeed four circular, center exhaust tips, as has long been rumored for the C8 Z06.
The base Z06 is a big visual departure from the existing Stingray in a number of other ways, too. The front fascia has been revised to make it more aggressive, with a more prominent splitter to boot. The front bumper features larger air intakes, while the fenders are wider to accommodate larger wheels and tires. On the sides, the air intakes feature more of a wishbone-like style than the Stingray’s boomerang-shaped units. We haven’t yet received an official peek at the rear of the new Z06, but we can see that it bears a unique rear spoiler design that’s lower in the center and raised up at each end.
As we’ve already heard, the 2023 Z06 is going to sound absolutely fantastic as well, thanks to its naturally-aspirated, flat-plane crank 5.5-liter LT6 V8, which is expected to produce north of 600 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.
