This home-built C6 Corvette racer is proof that you don’t have to be a pro to dominate the competition.

Time Attack is a popular series in the world of racing, one whose premise is relatively simple – it’s you against the clock, and the best time wins. In that realm, Feras Qartoumy‘s twin-turbo C6 Corvette reigns supreme after scoring a victory at Optima Batteries’ Hi-Performance Expo at the Circuit of the Americas last fall. That’s precisely where YouTuber MotoIQ caught up with Qartoumy and got some more information on his killer C6 Corvette.

Right off the bat, Qartoumy notes that the car is “a handful to drive,” which isn’t a surprise given its copious amount of power. Interestingly, he originally bought it as a backup car to his 1972 Nova, but he eventually wanted to build something faster, and the C6 platform was the perfect base for that. Qartoumy raced the car with much success and even won a pair of Garrett turbos in a race, which now help power it through courses quicker than just about anything else it goes up against.

The heart of this beast is its 430 cubic-inch LS7 V8, which has been sleeved and treated to Wiseco pistons, a forged crank and rods, Brodix heads, an MSD Atomic manifold, a hydraulic  Comp cam, and a dry-sump oiling system. What’s particularly cool about the setup is that Qartoumy fabricated the turbo kit himself alongside Pike Performance, which is designed to be easy to access and work on. In fact, he can even change out the turbos when he goes between autocross events and road courses.

The setup produces an impressive 900 horsepower and 930 pound-feet of torque at the wheels, which gets there via a sequential transmission that’s built to the hilt in order to handle all that power. The suspension helps in that regard as well thanks to its G-Speed coilovers and control arms, beefy sway bars, and giant Alcon brakes.

Even with an aero setup that isn’t ideal for autocross, Quartoumy admits that his C6 Corvette is still surprisingly solid. “I thought there’s no way this thing was going to be effective,” he said. “The car was out of shape, it was a mess. The way that thing was moving – it was all over the place. But that wing is amazing – it does work.” And the car as a whole, at least to us, is proof that home-built race cars can still hang with the big dollar builds out there in the world.
