Just over a year after the first C8 Corvette rolled off the line, America’s sports car already has quite the story. Here are the highlights.
February 3, 2020. A day all Corvette fans waited for: the very first C8 Corvette rolled off the line in Bowling Green. Decades of dreams and dashed hopes, all leading up to the first production rear mid-engine ‘Vette to finally hit the showroom floor.
In the year since No. 1, the C8 Corvette’s penned an amazing story for itself. On this, the first anniversary of the new era of America’s sports car, here are our top 10 milestones.
No. 10: C8 Corvette No. 1 Hits the Line
The first-ever C8 Corvette was originally meant to have gone through Bowling Green in October of 2019. A labor strike delayed production a few months, leading to that early February moment. And where did No. 1 go? Into Rick Hendrick’s collection. The NASCAR legend placed the winning bid on what would be a all-black C8 3LT Z51 at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction a month before. The price? A cool $3 million, all going to charity.
