Three New 2022 Corvette Colors Revealed as Three Others Are Discontinued
Three colors are on their way out to make room for these three new 2022 Corvette colors, which are similar hues.
Just last week, we reported that GM would be discontinuing three colors available on the 2021 Corvette. That meant that we were also going to see some new 2022 Corvette colors, we just didn’t know how many or what those colors might be. Now we do, thanks to a little creative sleuth work from Corvette Blogger, which found this information at, of all places, Chevrolet’s Czech language site.
The three new 2022 Corvette colors are Hypersonic Gray Metallic (GA7), Caffeine Brown Metallic (G48), and Amplify Orange Tintcoat (GC5). They each replace a similar hue, which is often the case, as the discontinued colors are Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze. Unfortunately, we don’t know what these colors actually look like just yet, as there are no examples online anywhere at the moment.
Regardless, what we have here is a gray replacing a gray, an orange replacing an orange, and a brown replacing, an um, bronze. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see how many buyers opt for Caffeine Brown Metallic, as a mere 548 folks purchased a 2020 Corvette in Zeus Bronze, ranking it dead last in popularity among all available exterior colors.
Amplify Orange has bigger shoes to fill, as Sebring Orange was the fourth most popular color option among buyers in 2020, representing 1,377 Corvettes produced that model year, while Shadow Gray finished a bit further behind in 9th with 1,111 units made in that particular hue.
Those that want to buy a Corvette in one of these discontinued colors still have a little time to get their orders in. The deadline for Sebring Orange and Zeus Bronze 2021 Corvette orders is April 29, while Shadow Gray orders must be placed by May 27. Production ends for Zeus Bronze on June 14, Sebring Orange on June 26, and Shadow Gray on July 19.
Following a series of production disruptions, it’s believed that GM wants to get the Corvette on a normal production schedule, something the model hasn’t followed since the day it launched. Thus, the 2021 model year might be short-lived, as we previously reported, and the changeover to the 2022 model could happen as soon as July or August.
