Three C8 Corvette Colors Will Be Discontinued Following 2021 Model Year

Two of these discontinued C8 Corvette colors aren’t a huge surprise, but one is, thanks to its popularity among buyers.

C8 Corvette colors, as is the case with every other automotive model on earth, tend to change with each passing model year. So it’s really no surprise that changes are on the way for the 2022 Corvette, following a couple in the 2021 model year. But now, we know that three currently available C8 Corvette colors will not be returning for the 2022 model year, thanks to a report from Corvette Blogger.

Those colors are Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze. The fact that Sebring Orange is going away is particularly interesting, as it was the fourth most popular color option among buyers in 2020, representing 1,377 Corvettes produced that model year, or 6.8% of total production. The other two hues haven’t been quite as popular, with Shadow Gray coming in 9th (1,111 units or 5.45%) and Zeus Bronze ranking last in 12th place (548 units, 2.69%).

Those that absolutely have to own a Corvette in one of these colors still have a little time to get their orders in, thankfully. The deadline for Sebring Orange and Zeus Bronze 2021 Corvette orders is April 29, while Shadow Gray orders must be placed by May 27. Production ends for Zeus Bronze on June 14, Sebring Orange on June 26, and Shadow Gray on July 19.

GM made a mere two changes to the 2021 Corvette color palette for the 2021 model year, replacing Long Beach Red with Red Mist Tint Coat Metallic and Blade Silver with Silver Flare Metallic. As for what new colors might bow in the 2022 model year, well, that’s anybody’s guess at this point.

If these discontinuation dates seem a little early, that might just be by design. In fact, Corvette Blogger reckons that they could signal that General Motors intends to end the 2021 model year sooner than expected in an effort to get the Corvette back on a normal production schedule, with the model year changeover happening in July or August.

Given the fact that the C8’s production schedule has been all over the place since day one, this wouldn’t be terribly surprising. After all, it has already battled through a labor dispute, COVID-19, and more than one production shutdown. If this is truly what GM has in mind, we should know more very soon, including what new colors we can expect for the coming model year.
