This amazing 1965 Corvette convertible has just 27k miles on the clock and remains in very original condition.

In this day and age, finding an original-owner C1 or C2 Corvette isn’t terribly common. After all, decades have passed since these cars first roamed the earth. And that’s just part of what makes this 1965 Corvette convertible currently being auctioned off at Hemmings so special. To be fair, it’s technically a two-owner car now, since the original owner sold it to her best friend’s kid, but it remained in her possession from June 7, 1965, until 2020.

Over that time frame, amazingly enough, this 1965 Corvette convertible was only driven a total of 27,820 miles. The original owner never modified the car, simply taking immaculate care of it and performing needed maintenance over the years. The survivor C2 is still powered by its original 327 V8, which was rated to produce 250 horsepower. It’s topped with a rebuilt Carter four-barrel carb and is backed up by GM’s M20 four-speed manual transmission and 3.36 rear gears.

The engine reportedly runs like a top, though the seller did replace the oil filter housing gasket to stop an oil leak. The exterior is in equally stellar condition, with the original paint intact and looking great save for the typical rock chips. The soft top and glass are also in solid shape with just a few wrinkles and one scratch on the windshield.

Inside the cabin, the black interior remains in great shape as well, save for a couple of blemishes including a tear in the original carpet and some visual wear on the gauges. The original radio stopped working some time ago and was replaced with a modern one, but like everything else, the seller has retained the original part to include with the sale.

Underneath, we can see the typical surface rust, as this car was obviously driven over the years. The tires were replaced back in 2015 and have lots of tread left. The seller repaired a leaky power steering ram and the related hoses, as well as the brake master cylinder, but the suspension is untouched. The car is being sold with its original owner’s manual and Protect-O-Plate, too.

Overall, this 1965 Corvette Convertible is certainly not a rarely-optioned machine, but it is special given its originality, low mileage, and short ownership history. It simply isn’t often that we come across cars this old with this kind of story to tell, and we imagine that will be good enough to separate someone who wants to bring it home from a decent amount of their money.
