A man sent out the Bat-Signal after thieves stole his father’s valued 1967 Corvette. You won’t believe how fast auto enthusiasts answered the call.

If there is one thing we can all use, it is good news. And that is why this story warms the cockles of our hearts. Plus, it is a great example of how strong the Corvette community can be; even harnessing the power of their keyboards.

James Drzewiecki woke up to a nightmare after Christmas. Drzewiecki, also a CorvetteForum member, discovered that his father’s 1967 Corvette had been stolen. After the family spoke to law enforcement, they decided to put out word online.

He posted pictures and information on various Chevy, Corvette, and auto enthusiasts groups, including our own forums. Harnessing the power of crowd sourcing is a smart call. Best to leave no stone unturned in the search.

“Not what I wanted to be sharing the day after Christmas but please pass this along. My dad’s ’67 Corvette–that we had up for auction–was stolen from the property on the evening of the 23rd. Police have been notified and are investigating. The car has front end damage from when the thieves pulled out from the garage. Stolen from Franklin, WI.”

This clean and tasty 1967 C2 Corvette L88 convertible has clearly been beautifully maintained. So the Corvette online bureau of investigations got on the case to bring back this ‘Vette. Immediately. Soon the news picked up traction. People shared the post, and it swiftly made the rounds online and on social media.

But you just couldn’t avoid that sinking feeling that a ’67 Corvette like this was most likely in the wind.

So it was surprising when just a day later, James posted that the drop top Corvette was recovered. Last night he shared “CORVETTE HAS BEEN LOCATED…AMAZING!!!!”

Even more amazing was how the car was recovered–as well as its condition. An eagle-eyed Corvette hunter spotted the C2 Corvette abandoned in a field. Having seen the post on Facebook, the person knew that this was it, and contacted police. When law enforcement showed up, the Good Samaritan posted a picture. And even better, the damage was appears to be quite minimal.

Surprisingly, the keys were even left in the car. Guess the crook got spooked. Or maybe couldn’t handle a serious ride.

We think it is safe to say, the family is happy to have the car home.
