Should You Flip Your C8 Corvette for a Profit While the Market Is Red Hot?

We live in a world where a used C8 Corvette is worth more than new, so why not take advantage and bank the profit?

As most are well aware, we’re living in unprecedented times when it comes to the state of the new and used vehicle markets. New vehicles are rather hard to find these days, thanks to a number of supply chain disruptions, most notably the semiconductor chip shortage. This also means that vehicles that were already in high demand – like the C8 Corvette – have become even more scarce and desirable, as well as valuable.

As a result, we’ve officially reached the point where some used C8 Corvette examples are selling for more than new, which is quite a phenomenon in a world where vehicles are historically depreciating assets. And all of this raises a very important question – if you currently own a C8 or are taking delivery of one soon, should you take advantage of current market conditions and flip it for a profit?

There are, of course, some compelling reasons to do so. Or at least one – it’s possible to make a substantial profit on your purchase, quickly and easily. Rarely in life do we get the opportunity to simply buy something and immediately flip it for $10,000 or more in profit, after all. And while many have tried and failed to flip certain vehicles in the past, there’s no doubt this is possible with the C8, as we’ve seen it happen multiple times over the last few months.

Of course, it’s also highly likely that you have waited for your C8 for a considerable amount of time and may not want to part with your prized purchase so quickly. The latest Corvette is of course a fantastic machine – fun to drive, highly capable, and styled in a manner that’s guaranteed to turn heads everywhere it goes. Perhaps you ordered one a year or two ago, and this is your dream car.

In that case, it’s completely understandable that one might want to forgo silly things like money and just drive and enjoy your new acquisition. But in reality, we may never get a chance like this again. The stars have quite literally aligned, and almost everything that could possibly go wrong with the supply chain has in fact gone wrong. So if you can put off owning a C8 for another year or two (or even wait for the Z06, E-Ray, or ZR1), flipping your current car right now could pay off in a very big way.
