Rental C7 Corvette Leads Police on Crazy Chase Before Driver Bails
C7 Corvette driver leaves police in the dust and eventually manages to evade the eye in the sky as well.
We come across all sorts of wild police chase videos on a regular basis. But most of them showcase slow cars or even trucks and SUVs doing their best to evade the law, and the vast majority of the time, things don’t end well for the perp. But in this video, we get to see a rental C7 Corvette do a fairly good job of staying away from the law, though the driver ultimately has to bail to escape completely.
The chase went down in Volusia County, Florida, after police attempted to pull the C7 Corvette over. Apparently, members of the narcotics unit had spotted the driver involved in some suspicious activity, a hunch that proved to be correct in the end. Of course, the driver isn’t interested in answering any questions about his illicit activity, so he proceeds to split traffic and take off.
What follows is a truly wild chase where the Corvette driver comes incredibly close to crashing multiple times. He weaves through traffic, coming perilously close to other cars, and uses the oncoming lane to pass slower vehicles on multiple occasions at high rates of speed. All the while, the police are pretty much left in the dust, save for the helicopter, which no one ever outruns.
Undaunted, the C7 Corvette driver just keeps on going, taking risk after risk along the way and even showing off the car’s off-road prowess with some trips across a grassy median. He eventually turns into an area that’s covered with trees, which makes it more difficult for the eye in the sky to keep a bead on him. He then proceeds to park the car, bail, and take off on foot.
Amazingly, this strategy works, as the driver manages to evade the long arm of the law, even with K9 units on the premises. Police found a stolen handgun and drugs in the car, unsurprisingly. We don’t know if the suspect was ever caught, but we imagine that like most criminals, he eventually found himself on the wrong side of a prison cell. If nothing else, the abuse he put this poor Corvette through should certainly be enough for a lengthy sentence.
