Refurbed ’66 Corvette Packs 327 Heat, Retains Classic Looks
Refurbished 16 years prior to hitting the block, C2 Corvette powered by newer 327 with a four-speed, bellowing out through dual side pipes.
Need to take a step back in time, far, far away from the modern day? If you love power in a Corvette, the perfect spot is the Sixties. There, you’ll find all sorts of beasts with various V8s under the hood. The period from 1963 through 1969, in particular, saw all of that power grow during the golden years of the muscle car, a boon for Corvette fans.
One such example is more than ready to whisk you away to that golden age. The current owner of this ’66 Corvette convertible on Bring a Trailer is ready to move on from the ride. What a ride it is, though!
The Corvette received a refurbishing 16 years prior to its BaT appearance. Two years prior, the original Rally Red was stripped, with a fresh coat applied during the refurb process. Everything looks as good as it did from the factory as a result of this refurb, especially for fans who prefer more OEM than restomod in their ‘Vettes.
Case in point: no LS or LT here. Just a replacement 327 V8 with 350 ponies and 360 lb-ft of torque rarin’ to go! And go they do through a four-speed manual to the 15-inch reproduction spinners wrapped in white-stripe all-seasons. The side pipes give the 327 plenty to sing about off the line, too.
Inside, the classics keep hittin’! The black vinyl interior is pulled together with a wood-rimmed three-spoke wheel. There’s also a Delco push-button AM/FM radio, so you can enjoy your favorite oldies, and a black soft top for those rainier days when you still want to drive. The only problem is the odometer, which is stuck at over 29,000 miles; total mileage is unknown.
This C2-era Corvette looks right at home where it is now, the warm California sun shining upon its Rally Red and chrome exterior. Of course, a classic like this looks great anywhere it goes. We hope its next owner gets as much joy from the ‘Vette as all of its previous owners had.
