The Callaway Corvette C16 featured all-new bodywork, a luxurious interior, and loads of power in a nifty package.

Callaway has long been tied to the Corvette as one of the more prominent tuners and builders in the world of GM’s legendary fiberglass-bodied sports car. From the early days of its twin-turbo monsters to its present-day C8 offerings, Callaway has built many cool Corvette parts and turnkey automobiles over the last several decades. That includes this rare 2008 Callaway Corvette C16 – one of just 15 ever built – which is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.

The Callaway Corvette C16 is different from most tuner Corvette offerings because it features truly unique bodywork – only the C6’s original glass, roof, rear decklid, and door mirrors remain. Everything else is custom made and lends the sixth-gen model a completely new and unique appearance, which in this case is enhanced by Crystal Red Metallic paint with a Stornoway Grey hood scoop.

That wild, custom bodywork is enhanced by a set of staggered 19- and 20-inch Dymag carbon-magnesium wheels, which are wrapped with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires measuring 285/30 in the front and 325/25 in the rear. Underneath, the C16 utilizes a Callaway-Eibach Multi-Pro suspension system and Callaway Le Mans brake package to turn and stop.

The interior has been dressed to the nines with lots of Garrett Black leather and Garrett Thundercloud  Alcantara, Thundercloud carpet, red contrast stitching, and factory options including a head-up display, sport seats, navigation, Bose audio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and infotainment system.

Power comes from a highly modified 6.2-liter LS3 V8 that’s topped with a Callaway supercharger and features an air-to-liquid intercooler and a Callaway “Double D” exhaust system. The massaged motor sends an impressive 650 horsepower and 585 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

One of just 15 built, this C6 Callaway Corvette C16 carried an original MSRP of $57,345, plus $95,725 tacked on top for the C16 package. That’s certainly a lot of money, but the C16 is, in all fairness, a lot of car. As of this writing, bids have topped the $65,000 mark with a few days to go, so we’ll just have to wait and see if the seller comes anywhere close to the car’s original cost.
