Muscle Car City is Closing Permanently …But You Can Buy their Corvettes!
Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda, Florida is sadly closing its doors. But now you can bid on over 200 cars in the collection, including several Corvettes.
The year 2020 has brought a number of hits to the car community as a whole. Sadly, one of Florida’s largest collections, Rick Treworgy‘s Muscle Car City, will be closing its doors for good. While it is mostly other GM Muscle cars like Chevelles and GTOs, there’s nearly 50 Corvettes of various vintage throughout the collection. And now, thanks to Mecum Auctions, you can buy your dream ride at no reserve.
We decided to pick out our favorite five, but if you wanted to see everything, you can head over to Mecum’s website and drool over the all the big blocks. So in no particular order, we present:
Pennant Blue 1954 Corvette
While it’s not a coveted 1953 model, Pennant Blue shares an identical number produced, with only 300 being made for this second year Corvette. With a tan interior and white wall tires, this 6 cylinder Corvette would make for an excellent collection piece or cruise night conversation starter.
1992 Corvette ZR1
White on red is a classic Corvette combo, which is why we like this 1992 ZR1. There’s nothing outrageously unique about this ZR1, but the simple fact it contains the best engine for the C4 makes it drool-worthy. We think the C4 ZR1 will be a future high dollar collector, so it will be interesting to see where the hammer falls on this one.
1969 Corvette ZL1
Le Mans Blue is not the only thing that caught our eye with this ‘vette. With a ZL1 package, this optional hard top 1969 Vette has the aluminum 427 big block, too. Rounded out nicely with heavy duty brakes and suspension, this Corvette was made in the last month of the ZL1 run.
There’s no denying the C8 has created a bit of a sensation, so this C8 with less than 200 miles is museum quality. As much as we like seeing C8’s being used properly, there’s always that market that desires the lowest mileage possible. This one has just 194 clicks on the odometer.
1958 small block Corvette
This particular car doesn’t have any significant features, but it was made in the first day of production for 1958 model year Corvettes. As such, we presume it to have a significant VIN, and that in itself can be important to a collector. Powered by a 283/245 V8, this C1 has plenty of life, and with a 4-speed manual is sure to be a pleasure to drive. With 26,000 miles on it, a new owner can hop in and enjoy the ride unlike the C8 listed prior.
