The New Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust system isn’t cheap, but it is proven to add a decent amount of power to the C8.

Aside from wheels and tires, aftermarket exhaust is easily the most popular modification people make to their cars. That includes the C8 Corvette, of course, and owners currently have a plethora of exhaust options to choose from, although the mid-engine Corvette hasn’t been around that long. The latest comes to us from long-time Corvette tuner Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. As we can see in this video, the Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust system gives the C8 a nice sound and a fairly substantial boost in power.

The Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust was co-developed with Corsa Performance. It’s made out of stainless steel with 4.5-inch round black chrome tips with engraved Lingenfelter logos and is designed to retain the OEM 4-valve design for drone-free driving on the highway, as well as keep the factory exhaust controls.

In the video, an otherwise stock C8 Corvette lays down some pretty impressive numbers on the dyno with the Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust installed – 452 horsepower and 433 pound-feet of torque. That’s a grand total of 19 more horsepower and 15 additional pound-feet of torque over stock – not too shabby for an exhaust, an upgrade that many manufacturers don’t bother to dyno test at all since gains are oftentimes insignificant or non-existent.

Lingenfelter also says that its Extreme-S setup is lighter than the factory exhaust but hasn’t provided any numbers in that regard. The system is street-legal in all 50 U.S. states and comes with a lifetime original owner warranty for a little extra peace of mind. It’s also designed to integrate perfectly with future Lingenfelter C8 upgrades and would mate nicely to a set of headers, we imagine.

C8 owners are still somewhat limited in terms of upgrades, as no one has quite cracked the car’s ECU just yet. But Lingenfelter’s exhaust is a nice way to add a bit more power to the car for now, especially since it’s designed to integrate into the factory ECM, which means it won’t throw an error code after owners complete a valve relearn sequence.

The only downside to the Extreme-S exhaust is its cost, which rings in at a substantial $3,599. But it certainly seems like a quality piece, and as of now, it’s one of the few C8 upgrades available that’s actually proven to extract additional power from the car’s LT2 V8.
