The last 1963 Corvette coupe ever made is certainly a special car, but is it worth the insane asking price?

In the Corvette world, the first and last of anything is generally a sought-after collectible worth a bit more money. But we’d wager that the last 1963 Corvette coupe produced is more valuable than most, thanks to the fact that it’s the only year GM made the now-beloved split window. That very car has now surfaced for sale on eBay with an asking price of $499,900 (so much better than saying $500k, we suppose), but the question is – will someone pay that much for the privilege of owning such a special vehicle?

It’s hard to say, but we do know that the last 1963 Corvette couple ever made is something that will undoubtedly stir up the world of car collectors. According to the seller, this particular split window is number 10,954 of 10,954 coupes produced in 1963, built on the very last day of production. GM also built 10,919 convertibles that model year, for a total production run of 21,513.

On the plus side, this car still has its numbers-matching drivetrain intact, which consists of the 327/340 horsepower V8 (one of 6,978 produced), Muncie four-speed manual gearbox, and 4.11-geared Positraction rear end. It also has a number of options that make it even rarer, including a leather interior (1,114 produced with this option), power brakes (3,336), wood-grained steering wheel (130), power steering (3,063), and backup light (318).

The last 1963 Corvette coupe is also fresh off a total restoration and looks to be in rather amazing condition. The seller notes that it has only been driven around 100 miles since that exhaustive process was completed earlier this year, and it shows. There’s no denying that this C2 Corvette is a special car with the right credentials, the only question left to ask is – is it worth a half-million bucks?

That much will be decided by those interested in purchasing the car, of course. It’s difficult to put an actual value on something like this because, well, there really isn’t anything else to gauge it against. Sure, you could point to the value of the last of any generation or model year Corvette, but this is the final split window produced, and that makes it rather unique. Collector interest in the ’63 coupe has skyrocketed in recent years, and subsequently, so have values. Still, we’re not confident that someone will pay a cool half-mil for the privilege of owning the last one made.
