High Wing Spoiler Returning Very Soon for the 2021 Corvette
Months after GM was forced to drop its High Wing Spoiler from the C8 catalog, the popular option is set to return.
Among the many factory parts & accessories available for the 2020 C8 Corvette, the High Wing Spoiler was easily one of the most popular. Unfortunately, that popularity, coupled with a supplier issue and a worldwide pandemic, led to General Motors having to drop it from the order books for some time as it simply couldn’t source anymore. Now, however, the High Wing Spoiler has returned. Or, at least, we know when it is returning.
According to GM Authority, GM is targeting “a return to order availability” for the High Wing Spoiler on April 8. When it returns, the spoiler is expected to retain for $995 and will be available in a number of different colors, though most seem to prefer it in Carbon Flash. Many customers will undoubtedly be pleased to hear that the popular part is returning, particularly since it’s a dealer-installed, OEM option.
Regardless, as it always does, the aftermarket stepped up after GM was forced to drop the High Wing Spoiler from its catalog some months ago. That includes ACS Composite, which has been offering a replica of the spoiler since the early summer of 2020. The ACS wing looks very similar to the OEM one, and even installs using the factory holes. It’s available in a variety of colors including Carbon Flash Black, Gloss Black, Torch Red, Arctic White, and Shadow Grey Metallic, but does cost a bit more with a retail price of $1,299.
As for the 2021 Corvette itself, it’s once again rolling down GM’s assembly line following a production shutdown earlier this month caused by a transmission parts supply shortage. However, it may not be long before it’s replaced by the 2022 model. As we recently reported, 2021 Corvette production is rumored to end in July, a move that would put the C8 back on a normal production schedule – something that it hasn’t enjoyed since its launch.
That wouldn’t be such a bad thing, of course, as the 2022 model year is expected to see the launch of the highly-anticipated C8 Z06, as well as a few changes to the Corvette’s interior and the addition of three new exterior colors.
