You Tuber is the first to add classic Lambo vertical aesthetic to his C8 Corvette. And honestly, it is pretty fun.

Corvette purists, look away. You might not like this. Okay, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Recently, we came across a very eye-catching 2020 C8 Corvette. Why was this particular Corvette so appealing? It was sporting gullwing doors. This is definitely a modification that rankle a few. But before anyone shake their heads and say “nope,” you have to take a closer look. Because honestly, we think it looks great, and has some unexpected benefits.

The 2020 Corvette 1LT is owned by enthusiast, collector, and You Tuber Brandon Younglee Farris aka Prince_Whipz870. The man has quite a collection of rides (all red), and his C8 is just stunning. So stunning, in fact, that Farris has won two First Place Trophies at car shows. Given how cherry his collection is, this installation had to be absolutely right.

He turned to Lambo door installation pros Eikon Motorsports. Over the course of one afternoon his C8 Corvette was fitted with vertical doors, using a bolt on hinge kit, hinges, doors, and mounts that match the GM factory bolts.

Prince_Whipz870 then gives a walkaround and demonstration. First thing that jumps out is how smoothly the gullwing doors go with the Corvette style. It looks seamless.

An unexpected benefit to the doors is how it makes getting in and out the car easier. Especially if you happen to be a taller person. There is an increase in clearance, something a lot of people will appreciate. Plus, the doors are sturdy and smooth employing a simple “open out, then up” mechanism.

When you see how it blends with the cabin, it just feels right. This is a Corvette and a supercar. It is a delicious blend of that sexy Italian style with American sports car.

I think it gives Farris’ car a refreshing, even elevated supercar style; but it fully retains its iconic Corvette identity. And most important of all is that this is exactly what Prince_Whipz870 wanted. They are fun and sporty, why not? Vertical doors really set his Corvette apart.

“It really changes the entire look,” he says. And it does, but not at the expense of the C8 Corvette DNA.

And he might just be on to something.

Recently, Lambo doors, gullwings, and scissor doors have been popping up throughout the automotive world. Porsche filed a patent for a gullwing gas-powered sports car with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Italian automotive designers ItalDesign, the team behind the genius Corvette “Moray” concept, has been teasing their own DeLorean inspired project.

Check out the video, and you might be surprised how well the two match up. And most importantly, how happy Prince_Whipz870 is going vertical.
