A little behind-the-scenes work helped this hero bring home his 2022 Corvette without having to wait for years.

As most reading this are already well aware, securing a new Corvette isn’t a terribly easy task these days. Demand far outweighs supply, even though it’s been roughly two years since the C8 went on sale, and supply chain challenges aren’t helping matters, either. Bobbie Carson, a 95-year-old World War II veteran, found himself on a long waiting list like most of us, but thanks to his dealer and General Motors, was able to get a bit of VIP treatment and a 2022 Corvette sooner rather than later, according to WNKY News out of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Carson, a resident of Georgia, was initially put on a list that would have seen him waiting two full years to snag a C8, but after learning about his service, the dealer he placed the order with contacted GM to see if they could bump him up the list. The automaker generously did exactly that, and Carson only had to wait a total of 30 days before picking up his Arctic White 2022 Corvette at the National Corvette Museum early this month.

Carson is a big-time car enthusiast and has owned a total of seven Corvettes in his lifetime, but it seems that his 2022 model – the 42nd produced in the new model year – might just be his favorite. “I’ve had seven of these cars. This dwarfs every one of them,” Carson told WNKY News. “This is one of the top-rated cars in the world and there is a waitlist all over the world for this car so I’m happy to get it and they gave me a great honor to get me in a position to get one.”

As one might imagine, Carson won’t exactly be parking his shiny new toy in the garage for safekeeping, nor will he be using it merely as a fair-weather cruiser. Instead, the C8 will serve as his new daily driver, and he will even be selling his current daily to make room for it. After serving our country in such a distinctive way and living long enough to tell his story, it goes without saying that this particular hero has certainly earned it.
