Georgia Corvette Lottery Update! Winner Finds His Ideal C8

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

C8 Corvette 2LT Z51 in Rapid Blue is coming from Jim Ellis Chevrolet of Atlanta.

Last week, we brought you the story of Dennis Kahler, who won a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and $250,000 cash on a Georgia Lottery scratch-off ticket. He paid five bucks and with the winning ticket, he is entitled to a C8 Corvette worth up to $107,000 and $250,000 in cash, minus what Uncle Sam claims for taxes. That sounds great, and it is, but Kahler quicker ran into a problem.

Due to the popularity of the C8 Corvette, the lottery commission was having a hard time finding a car that fit his description. According to the folks at Corvette Blogger, an Atlanta area Chevy dealership has stepped up to complete the prize package.

Kahler’s Corvette Ticket

We can imagine that Kahler was pretty excited when he scratched-off the covering material on the $5 ticket and saw that he had won. He didn’t just win a C8 Corvette, he also won $250,000. Best of all, the car portion of the prize is valued at $107,000, and Kahler is entitled to the difference between that number and the actual price of the Stingray that he picks.

The winner quickly decided that he wanted a 2021 Corvette Stingray 2LT with the Z51 package, in Rapid Blue. That car has an MSRP of $80,465, so Kahler would basically get the new mid-engine sports car, the $250,000 cash portion of the prize and the $26,535 difference between the total value of the car and the actual price. He would have to pay a hefty amount in taxes, but he would basically have won $276,535 and a new Corvette.

Unfortunately, when the Georgia Lottery commission began checking with local dealerships, they were only able to find one Corvette that fit his description. The dealership with that car wanted $10,000 ADM, and he refused to pay that. He did find one dealership, Master Chevrolet, which could get him a car by the third quarter of this year at MSRP, but at the time of our first report, that was Kahler’s best option.

Jim Ellis to the Rescue

The good news is that since our original report, Jim Ellis Chevrolet of Atlanta saw the story and contacted Georgia Lottery officials. Jim Ellis Chevrolet is one of the top Corvette-selling dealerships in the country, having moved 131 units during 2020. This dealership has told Kahler that they will have his Rapid Blue 2LT Z51 Stingray by March.

Provided that everything goes as planned, the lottery winner will only have to wait a couple of months to get his gorgeous new Chevy Corvette Stingray. Again, he will also get a check for somewhere in the area of $275,000, minus what is likely to be a sizeable chunk of taxes.
