First Look: Chemical Guys Launches ‘HydroView’ Ceramic Glass Cleaner
Part glass cleaner, part ceramic coating, HydroView is a two-in-one glass cleaner and protectant engineered for extra clarity and safety.
With the potential for enhanced gloss, protection, and durability, ceramic coating and ceramic-infused products have taken the car-detailing world by storm in the last few years. (Along with paint protection film.) And now we can add Chemical Guys HydroView two-in-one glass cleaner to the list of growing products.
Chemical Guys describes HydroView as mixing the best parts of glass cleaners with a touch of ceramic SiO2 protection in a one-stop product. The goal? Clean glass that repels “dirt, grime and mud, reduces fogging and minimizes water tension, readying any driver for unpredictable, extreme weather conditions such as rain, fog, mist, cloudiness or thunderstorms that can make visibility difficult.” Plus, in addition to vehicles, Chemical Guys says you can use HydroView in offices and homes, including bathroom glass, including shower doors.
“We are excited to change the way you view the world through windows thanks to our new HydroView Ceramic Glass Coating Cleaner & Protectant,” states Jennifer Olvera, Chemical Guys’ Brand Director. “It is a great addition to the existing ceramic product lineup and is a product that customers across the globe have been requesting. HydroView provides an easy-to-use ceramic coating and cleaner in one, with results you can see instantly. Having glass that is clean and clear is extremely essential and with an easy application of HydroView, you can get amazing optical clarity along with the ceramic hydrophobic properties to shed contaminants, water, and help your glass remain cleaner longer.”
First Look Impressions
Chemical Guys was kind enough to supply me with one bottle of HydroView for testing. (We’re also working on a review of HydroCharge ceramic coating and HydroCharge ceramic quick detailing spray — more on those soon!) In my first HydroView experiment, I coated half of my Roadmaster wagon’s rear window with the product, waited, and then sprayed the glass with the hose. The HydroView-coated half instantly beaded and sheeted water away akin to using a product like RainX. Very nice results.
I was also impressed by the overall clarity and — when using two clean microfibers — lack of streaking or haziness. (Which I do experience with RainX.) However, washing the vehicle shortly after removed most of HydroView’s hydrophobic properties, which makes me question longevity. To be fair, though, this experiment was a quick test and did not allow for curing, so the results could be user error.
