Final 2020 C8 Corvette a convertible with six delivery miles, built December 14, and wears Sebring Orange Tint Coat over tan interior.
Nearly a year ago, the very first C8 Corvette (represented by a pre-production model) rolled into the big tent of Barrett-Jackson at their Scottsdale, Arizona HQ. A few minutes later, NASCAR legend and Corvette fan Rick Hendrick dropped $3 million to own No. 1. By February, the first ‘Vette, a black-on-black 3LT with the Z51 package, was on its way from the Kentucky bluegrass to the Carolina Piedmont.
However, just as there was talk about where the first C8 Corvette would go, there’s been a lot of speculation on where the final 2020 C8 would land. Wonder no more. No. 19456 will appear on the final day of Mecum Auctions’ Kissimmee, Florida happening, set for Saturday, January 16.
As GM Authority reported back in early December 2020, the final C8 Corvette was identified as a convertible painted in Sebring Orange. Ordered by Van Bortel Chevrolet in Macedon, New York, it was believed the ‘Vette would go to a customer. However, Van Bortel may have figured out they had something amazing in their hands. Thus, the move to auction it through Mecum with an unknown reserve.
Whomever drops the winning bid will take delivery of a C8 Corvette convertible with just six delivery miles on the odometer. It still has its delivery packaging, too; thus, things will be showroom-fresh. The ‘Vette’s Sebring Orange coat is paired with a Natural Dipped leather interior.
Though Van Bortel opted to equip the convertible with the 3LT trim, it doesn’t appear to have the Z51 package. Thus, the new owner will only have 490 horses and 465 lb-ft of torque from the 6.2-liter LT2 V8. Nothing a bolt-on supercharger couldn’t fix, though.
This special C8 Corvette includes blue seat belts, High Voltage exterior trim, and Carbon Flash wheels. Together, the final 2020 C8 should pull in a hefty bid in mid-January. Will it reach $3 million, though? Who can say? We suspect the reserve may be around $100,000, based on how many C8s have gone for on the red carpet. Either way, this ‘Vette is a piece of history.
