C6 Corvette ZR1 bid up to $103,000, but that wasn’t enough for the owner of this 16-mile car.
The C6 Corvette ZR1 ushered in the modern era of the big-power Chevrolet sports car, with the LS9 delivering 638 supercharged horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. From 2009 through 2013, the company built 4,684 examples of the C6 ZR1, providing owners with an American machine that would beat just about any factory-stock car in the world on a drag strip or a road course. They were incredible when they were new and even as new models with more power have come to market, the LS9-powered Corvette ZR1 has remained one of the most respected cars on the road or the track.
Finding a C6 Corvette ZR1 that is available for purchase can be tough, especially if you are looking for one with low miles. However, some of them were tucked away after being purchased and as the prices for used performance cars skyrocket, some of these cars are being offered up. One such example is the 2010 Corvette ZR1 shown here, which was recently posted on Bring-A-Trailer, but it failed to the reserve before the bidding closed.
Factory Fresh Corvette ZR1
The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 shown here has just 16 miles on the odometer, still sporting the protective shipping materials on the steering wheel and seats, along with the window sticker still being affixed to the inside of the windshield. The car was originally sold new by Marc Heitz Chevrolet in Oklahoma, but it has been registered in Montana and Arkansas before being acquired by the dealership that is currently selling it in California. The car has changed hands several times and none of the owners have driven it. That is no fun for them, but great for whoever eventually buys this C6 ZR1.
This Corvette is finished in Velocity Yellow with Ebony leather interior and the 3ZR Premium Equipment Group. That adds the key features of the ZR1 package that everyone wants, including Magnetic Select Ride Control suspension, carbon fiber body bits, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and staggered wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches out back, all of which are wrapped in high performance rubber.
Of course, the most important aspect of this Corvette is the supercharged LS9 engine, which can be viewed through the window in the middle of the hood. That is definitely one of the coolest features of this package, as you can show off the 638 horsepower engine everywhere you go. That engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Reserve Not Met
The auction on Bring-A-Trailer ended on July 29 at roughly 2:30 PM EST with 24 bids, the highest of which was $103,000. We don’t know what the reserve price was, but we do know that this Corvette ZR1 had an original sticker price of $122,825. With used cars prices being so high and new car production stalling due to component shortages, we would expect that the reserve was somewhere north of the original price. That is a whole lot of money for an 11-year-old car, but with just 16 miles on the odometer, this Corvette is still new, so expecting new money at a time like this is very realistic.
