Dive Further Into the Corvette C8 Development with a New Book

As a special treat for Corvette enthusiasts, the official Corvette Stingray: The Mid-Engine Revolution is now on sale!

Earlier in January, we reported on the release of the second and final chapter of C8 Corvette’s development story. The two-part series offered exciting insights into the design and engineering process that gave the world its first-ever mid-engine Corvette, the C8. But some enthusiasts were not satisfied with Chevy’s brief look into the engineering team’s extensive journey.

Now, there is a special treat for those who want to take a deep dive into the making of this modern icon, a new GM-licensed book that will take readers and fans on a truly deep dive. Entitled Corvette Stingray: The Mid-Engine Revolution,  it offers General Motors’ official account of the C8 Corvette’s development. Unlike the two-part documentary series, this 200 page tome also offers a look into the history of the brand.

Mark Reuss, General Motors President, pens the book’s foreword, “Once we got to C7, we had pushed the limits of what we could do with that configuration. It was as close to perfection as a front-engine/rear-drive Corvette was going to get. To take performance and driving dynamics to the next level for our customers, we had to move to mid-engine. As a result, the C8, to me, with its perfect balance, superior handling, and outstanding design, is the best Corvette ever.”

Even though the C8 has the first mid-engine offering in production, there were many similar concepts developed in the past, including the Astrovette, the Reynolds Aluminum Corvette, and the Grand Sport 2.

The book has dedicated sections for each model, which chronicles the evolution of Chevy’s first-ever mid-engine Vette over the decades. The book went on sale March 2, and retails for $45. Corvette enthusiasts can place orders directly from GM or, of course, on Amazon.
